1966 Shelby GT-350 Hertz Replica

This is a 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback done as a Shelby GT-350 Hertz tribute. Faithful recreations or “clones” as they are sometimes called are a way for enthusiasts to own, drive and enjoy a classic car that appears to be the original but is only fraction of the original’s cost. An original in this condition would be well over $100K. The Hertz model was an interesting chapter in the Shelby story in the sense that it was the only time in automotive history that an actual race car could be rented to the public. It was also a testament to the marketing genius of Carroll Shelby.
This car has a 302 instead of the original 289. Otherwise it’s a pure Shelby look-a-like with pure Shelby parts. It was bought as a project sixteen years ago as a project car, driven around as a “beater” for a while and then went through a complete restoration.
I heard about Dennis Buys Cars by going online and typing in “Classic Cars Los Angeles”. It was a great experience, he answered the phone himself, you don’t have to go through a middle person to talk to Dennis. He jumped right on it and it was lightening quick in terms of completing the transaction.
