Avoid Craigslist to Sell Used Car

Ah, the fine art of selling a used car. We’ve all done it before years ago it seems, just pop in a quick ad on Craigslist and well meaning people call you, you meet them and strike a deal. Sound simple, right? Well, it used to be.

Right around the recession of 2008-2010 things seemed to change. Nobody had any money and new scams and opportunists started to come out of the woodwork. Cashier’s check scams started to flourish where the buyer promises to overpay with a cashier’s check and wants the difference in cash and of course the check bounces later when your car is long gone. “Curbstoners”, who are unlicensed dealers, will buy your car, never register it in their name and flip it to a new buyer claiming they they are your “friend” who is selling it for you which of course makes you liable for all sorts of parking tickets, Fast Trak violations and red light tickets. Another good one is the PayPal scam when it sure looks like a PayPal confirmation of funds but turns out to be fake.

Last but certainly not least is your personal safety. There are just too many risks involved in selling your car privately, especially if you are a woman. It just isn’t a good idea to have strangers coming to your house. There are just too many crazies out there to take a risk.

It sure is a lot easier to call a good, qualified, licensed and bonded California dealer like Dennis Buys Cars when it comes time to sell used car. We offer a nice, safe and friendly atmosphere to sell used car, truck, SUV, motorcycle or Classic Car. The process is easy and simple.

Oh yeah, almost forgot; we sell cars too! There are a thousand people before you who have given us great testimonials, Yelp reviews and fun videos to watch.

Dean Did a Google Search for “Sell Used Car”

Dennis Goddard: So Dean tell us about this car you’re selling today?

Dean: Its a good car I had a lot of fun with it. It runs great, I’m the second owner and what else can I tell you, it looks good it runs good.

Dennis: So what do we have? What’s the year, make, and model?

Dean: Its a 2004 Lexus GX 470, about 75,000 miles, GPS, third row seats, basically everything you could want.

Dennis: So why did you sell it?

Dean: I got a new car and you know this worked well for the family but its time to move on.

Dennis: Great, now Dean why did you sell used car to a dealer as opposed to selling it privately?

Dean: You know I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of people coming and driving the car and coming to my home and possibly, I hear all these horror stories about Craigslist and god knows what else can happen. I just thought its safer and at least you know the check is good.

Dennis: Exactly, And how did you find us? how did you find Dennis at Dennis Buys Cars?

Dean: I searched online for sell used car. I wanted something local and you’re local and so I called you and I got a good feeling from you so I came down and you know, we worked a deal.

Dennis: Great, and now do you remember what it was that you typed in when you did the online search?

Dean: I think I put sell used car Los Angeles.

Dennis: Well I’m glad when you typed in sell used car in Los Angeles it led you to us.

Dean: I’m glad too.

Dennis: Thanks very much, we appreciate it.
