We&#8217;ve all done it before years ago it seems, just pop in a quick ad on Craigslist and well meaning people call you, you meet them and strike a deal. Sound simple, right? Well, it used to be.<\/p>\n<p>Right around the recession of 2008-2010 things seemed to change. Nobody had any money and new scams and opportunists started to come out of the woodwork. <a href=\"http:\/\/money.cnn.com\/2015\/05\/08\/autos\/craigslist-car-scam\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cashier&#8217;s check scams<\/a> started to flourish where the buyer promises to overpay with a cashier&#8217;s check and wants the difference in cash and of course the check bounces later when your car is long gone. <a href=\"http:\/\/thegarage.jalopnik.com\/curbstoning-how-not-to-fall-for-this-one-common-craigs-1683448736\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Curbstoners&#8221;<\/a>, who are unlicensed dealers, will buy your car, never register it in their name and flip it to a new buyer claiming they they are your &#8220;friend&#8221; who is selling it for you which of course makes you liable for all sorts of parking tickets, Fast Trak violations and red light tickets. Another good one is the <a href=\"https:\/\/craigslistpostingsecrets.wordpress.com\/pay-pal-scam\/\" target=\"_blank\">PayPal scam<\/a> when it sure looks like a PayPal confirmation of funds but turns out to be fake.<\/p>\n<p>Last but certainly not least is your personal safety. There are just too many risks involved in selling your car privately, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dennisbuyscars.com\/cash-for-cars-6reasons.html\" target=\"_blank\">especially if you are a woman<\/a>. It just isn&#8217;t a good idea to have strangers coming to your house.
