{"id":709,"date":"2014-11-23T18:08:34","date_gmt":"2014-11-23T18:08:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.dennisbuyscars.com\/sellmycar-blog\/?p=709"},"modified":"2014-11-23T18:08:34","modified_gmt":"2014-11-23T18:08:34","slug":"dennis-buys-a-super-rare-1963-ford-t-bird-sports-raodster","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.dennisbuyscars.com\/sellmycar-blog\/dennis-buys-a-super-rare-1963-ford-t-bird-sports-raodster\/","title":{"rendered":"Dennis Buys a Super Rare 1963 Ford T-Bird Sports Raodster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class='youtube-player' type='text\/html' width='900' height='507' src='https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yn7GGSEHmas?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;fs=1&#038;autohide=2&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;wmode=transparent' allowfullscreen='true' style='border:0;'><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>When Ford ended the hugely successful run of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ford_Thunderbird_(first_generation)\" title=\"1955 Thunderbird\" target=\"_blank\">two seater T-Birds<\/a> and introduced the huge <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tbirdforum.com\/forums\/square-birds-1958-1960\/\" title=\"Square Bird\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;Square Bird&#8221; in 1958,<\/a> there was a justified outcry of disapproval from American sports cars lovers. Finally, Ford had an answer to the mighty Corvette which debuted in 1954. <\/p>\n<p>How could Ford do such a thing? The &#8217;58, &#8217;59 and &#8217;60 T-Birds just were not popular, and, this unpopularity resulted in low production numbers which of course leads to rarity and high prices today in the collectors market.<\/p>\n<p>Ford wiped the slate clean again in &#8217;61 and came up with one of the most dramatic and beautiful designs in Ford&#8217;s history, the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ford_Thunderbird_(third_generation)\" title=\"Third Generation Thunderbird\" target=\"_blank\">third generation Ford Thunderbird.<\/a> It was still large but had graceful, sweeping lines and looked fast when it was standing still.<\/p>\n<p>In 1962 the <a href=\"http:\/\/auto.howstuffworks.com\/1962-1963-ford-thunderbird-sports-roadster.htm\" title=\"Thunderbird Sports Roadster Convertible\" target=\"_blank\">Sports Roadster Convertible<\/a> was created and offered for 1962 and 1963 only. These had Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels, special hand grip for the passenger, Select-Aire heating and AC, AM-FM radios (a big deal in 1962) and power windows. The most striking difference was the tonneau cover which covers the back seats and formed headrests for the front seats which gave the car the appearence of a two seater. But, this option was hugely expensive relative to the current market. For example, another $159 could get you a fully equipped Cadillac with power windows. Someone might do a Google search for: &#8220;I need to sell my classic car,&#8221; or &#8220;sell my classic car,&#8221; or &#8220;what is my classic car worth,&#8221; or &#8220;classic cars in los angeles,&#8221; and our website will pop up. It&#8217;s that easy. If you have just inherited a classic car, need some cash for something special in your life or maybe started a classic car project that is just too difficult to finish, call us, we will buy it. Tell us the year make and model.<\/p>\n<p>Joy: It\u2019s a 63 Sports Roadster Thunderbird 390.<\/p>\n<p>Dennis: Wow. So what makes it a roadster? What is the difference here? <\/p>\n<p>Joy: Well, it\u2019s got everything on it. It\u2019s got an am\/fm radio. <\/p>\n<p>Dennis: Right.<\/p>\n<p>Joy: Air-conditioning. <\/p>\n<p>Dennis: and it had something in the back right? It had a cover to cover up<\/p>\n<p>Joy: Right. Right. It can be a 2 seater or a 4 seater. <\/p>\n<p>Dennis: Wow. So how long have you had this car? <\/p>\n<p>Joy: 38 years.<\/p>\n<p>Dennis: 38 years! Wow. Wow.<\/p>\n<p>Joy: 1976.<\/p>\n<p>Dennis: So tell us\u2026I know it must be a lot but tell us your fondest memory of you in this car.<\/p>\n<p>Joy: I think it would be Laguna Beach about 77 or 78. My husband and I. We were there for the surfing sand and that weekend and it was a wonderful weekend with our car<\/p>\n<p>Dennis: So Joy tell us why did you decide to finally sell this car?<\/p>\n<p>Joy: Well, my husband passed away in 2006 and I\u2019ve had it all these last 8 years and I just felt that it was time to\u2026and I\u2019m getting older too and I felt that it was the right time to sell it and let someone else enjoy it.<\/p>\n<p>Dennis: Well we will make sure if that.<\/p>\n<p>Joy: I know you will.<\/p>\n<p>Dennis: And Joy how did you hear about Dennis at DennisBuysCars?<\/p>\n<p>Joy: Well, my friend Bill Johnson <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nickswebworks.com\" title=\"Nicks Web Works\" target=\"_blank\">found you on the computer and that was the way.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dennis: Awesome.
